Project overview

The context behind RWV – Responsible Wine Vendor Program.

The Responsible Wine Vendor (RWV) Program is a U.S.-based educational platform providing online training to promote responsible alcohol sales and service in compliance with legal regulations.

RWV faced several key challenges before the platform was developed. The primary issue was the lack of a centralized, compliant, and digital solution for responsible alcohol vendor training. Existing resources were either fragmented or lacked interactive components necessary for effective learning. Ensuring the platform was legally compliant with U.S. alcohol service regulations posed additional complexities. The client also needed a secure and reliable method for handling course payments and issuing digital certifications. Another challenge was creating a user interface that was both intuitive and engaging, while still accommodating users on various devices, including mobile. Finally, the platform had to be scalable to accommodate future growth and additional training modules without compromising performance or user experience.

The project followed a streamlined development process broken down into three core phases. During the Planning & Design phase, which lasted two weeks, the team worked closely with RWV stakeholders to identify compliance requirements, define user roles, and map out user journeys. Wireframes and interactive prototypes were created to visualize the training workflow. This was followed by a six-week Development & Testing phase. The development team built the platform using React.js and Node.js, implemented the PostgreSQL database, and integrated Stripe for payments. Simultaneously, extensive testing ensured security, usability, and mobile responsiveness. The final two weeks were allocated to Deployment & Optimization, where the platform was launched on AWS with additional performance tuning and monitoring. Throughout the process, data security and regulatory compliance remained top priorities.

What the project delivered.

The completed RWV platform successfully addressed the challenges initially identified and delivered measurable results. Vendors across the U.S. now have convenient access to interactive training modules that are compliant with federal and state alcohol service regulations. The platform’s responsive design ensures accessibility on both desktop and mobile devices, broadening its reach. Users benefit from a seamless experience—from course registration and secure payment through to certification and progress tracking. The integration of secure authentication and encrypted communications has strengthened user trust and data protection. Since launch, the platform has seen increased engagement and a steady rise in course enrollments, driven by its intuitive design and reliable infrastructure. Ultimately, RWV now stands as a scalable, future-ready platform that promotes responsible alcohol service and supports public safety efforts through education.
