Mazad is a sleek, mobile-first auction platform built to transform how people in the Maldives buy, sell, and bid online. Whether you're listing a product or placing a winning bid, the app makes every step quick, smooth, and exciting. From fashion and electronics to household items, Mazad brings real-time auctions to your fingertips with a simple and secure experience — right from your iPhone or iPad. It’s now the go-to app for anyone looking to score great deals or turn clutter into cash in a fun, game-like way.
Building a real-time auction app meant facing several exciting (and complex) challenges: Real-Time Bidding Logic: We needed to create a live countdown-based bidding engine that could handle rapid activity with zero lag. Mobile-First Performance: The interface had to be lightning-fast and buttery smooth — especially during the final seconds of bidding. Localized Needs: Currency support for Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) and region-specific UX were crucial for adoption. Easy Listings for All Users: Sellers needed to list products quickly, even with limited technical experience. Trust & Safety: Buyer-seller communication and account security had to be simple but solid — to build a trusted community.
We designed and built Mazad with a focus on speed, simplicity, and real-time performance: Fully Native iOS Build (Swift): For smooth navigation and app responsiveness on iPhones and iPads. Custom Bidding Engine: Engineered real-time bidding mechanics with instant updates, countdown timers, and bid lockouts to keep things fair and transparent. Simple Seller Experience: Added a fast product upload flow with image compression and easy description entry. Localized Currency + UX: Integrated support for MVR and localized UI to feel right at home for Maldivian users. In-App Messaging & Notifications: Enabled secure chats and instant alerts for bids, wins, and sales — keeping users engaged around the clock. Secure Login & Firebase Backend: Used Firebase Auth and Realtime DB to keep user data secure and synced at all times.
